Sherman Joseph Trahan Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Sherman Joseph Trahan, 82, who died Friday, July 2, 2021 at his residence in Rayne, LA. Interment will be in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in Roberts Cove, LA. Rev. Paul Broussard, Pastor of St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Sherman graduated from Rayne High School in 1957, then went on to join the United States Marine Corps. After returning home he began a career in the newspaper industry working in sales for the Rayne Independent, Crowley Post Signal, and finally The Daily Advertiser. He was promoted to sales manager and retired as production director after 47 years with them. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, godfather and uncle. He enjoyed being a member of the Acadian RC Flying Club with his model planes. Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Trahan Vanicor and spouse Van P. Vanicor, one grandson, Van P. Vanicor, II, one step granddaughter, Heather A. Vanicor, two sisters in law, Margaret Habetz Boullion, Louise Habetz Meche, five brothers in law, Louis Robert Prejean, Edward J. Habetz and spouse Marlene Habetz, Daniel L. Habetz and spouse Judy Habetz, Gerhard R. Habetz and spouse Gloria Habetz, Charles H. Habetz and spouse Pattie Habetz, four godchildren, Sylvia Prejean Peltier, Lisa Habetz Pryor, Ronnie Guidry and Bryan Credeur. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Ann Habetz Trahan, parents, Clemence Trahan and Lena Boudreaux Trahan, one sister, Mary Ann Trahan Prejean, one infant brother, Merlin Trahan, three brothers in law, Robert J, Habetz, Wesley Boullion, Johnny Meche, one sister in law, Rose Marie Habetz, in laws, Leonard August Habetz and Annie Gesina Cramer Habetz. Pallbearers will be Daniel L. Habetz, Ira Pryor, Robert Wayne Prejean, Todd Prejean, Clyde Boullion and Gerhard Habetz. Honorary pallbearers will be Van P. Vanicor, Van P. Vanicor, II, Edward J. Habetz, Charles H. Habetz, Konnor Thibodeaux and Terry Thibodeaux. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 12:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA.
