Renola "Penny" Cart Baytown, TX/Rayne, LA - Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne for Renola "Penny" Cart, 93, who died Friday, April 3, 2026, at her residence in Baytown, TX. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Dr. Warren Langford with First United Methodist Church in Crowley, LA will conduct the memorial services. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Chappuis of Lafayette, LA, Debbie King and husband James “Bo” King of Baytown, TX; her grandchildren, Kerri Gonzalez and husband Michael Gonzalez of Mont Belvieu, TX, Craig King and wife Kristina King of Mont Belvieu, TX; her great-grandchildren, Caleb King, Addison Gonzalez, and Aidan Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Allen “J.A.” Cart; her parents, Voorhies Roy and Nola Benoit; her brothers, Claude Roy and wife Lena Roy, Leeward Roy and wife Allen Dale “Nannie” Roy; and her sister, Melba Olinger and husband Hilary Olinger. She retired from the Law Firm of Edwards, Stefanski & Zaunbrecher in Crowley, LA, where she worked as a Paralegal and Office Manager for over 20 years. She then began her second career, retiring at age 78 as Owner of Arts Unlimited in Rayne. Penny was born on December 2, 1932, in Duson, LA. Her social and professional club memberships included Beta Sigma Phi, where she served as president, secretary-treasurer, vice president, and Ways and Means Chairman. She completed extensive art studies, including classes in Columbus, Ohio, where she studied with one of the leading artists from Denmark in Rosemaling and Faux Art. She took classes in Chicago for an extended course in the Basics of Art Presented in Classroom Interpretation and also including advanced lessons given by artist from France. She was a successful businesswoman for over 27 years in Rayne as Owner of Arts Unlimited, where she taught classes in oils, acrylics, stained glass, basket weaving, calligraphy, and other arts, indicating her widespread talents and artistic abilities. Her hobbies included pleasure as an antique collector, stamp collecting, working in her flower beds, and, of course, all forms of artwork. The family requests that visitation be observed at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with her funeral services following visitation at 2:00 pm, also at the Funeral Home.
