Randy James Meche Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Randy James Meche, 61. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Father Nick Ware will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM, and will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Randy James Meche, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at his home in Rayne, Louisiana, on May 26, 2025. Randy was known for his adventurous spirit and unwavering dedication to his sons. A hardworking man, he spent many years in the oilfield, where he showed perseverance and strength. Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in the outdoors—fishing, frogging, or hunting, always embracing the simple pleasures of nature. Family and friends will always remember Randy through the stories of his wild and unforgettable adventures—duck hunting at sunrise, fishing deep in the bayou, or frogging by flashlight late into the night. His stories, often as bold as the man himself, were filled with laughter and the kind of mischief that only Randy could stir up. He was also a great pool player, well known for his signature one-armed pool shots that left many both amazed and entertained. Whether in a game or a gathering, Randy brought energy, laughter, and a competitive spirit that made every moment memorable. If you knew him, you knew him. You could hear him clear across a room, probably telling some new or old story. He is survived by his two sons, Randy James Meche II and his wife Jamie Meche, and Dylan Meche; as well as his beloved grandchildren: Kaelyn Mire, Allie Mire, Braxton Meche, Aiden Meche, and Addison Meche. He also leaves behind his sisters, Kathy Devalcourt and Priscilla Duhon. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Emar and Belva Thibodeaux Meche, his brothers Daniel Meche and Kevin Meche Sr., and his brother-in-law Kevin Duhon. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Acadiana (including Dr. Gregory Riggs), and Ochsner New Orleans for their compassionate care during Randy’s final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana in Randy’s memory. Randy’s laughter, love for life, and fun-loving spirit will live on in the stories told and memories shared by all who knew and loved him.
