Mary Alice Guidry Hanks Leger Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 12, 2024 at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mary Alice Guidry Hanks Leger who died Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at her residence in Rayne, LA. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Father Connor Poirrier, Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Rayne will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be her nieces, Lisa Alleman and Sharon Rue. Offertory Gift Bearers will be her great-niece, Michelle Cummings Autin, and great-great nieces, Madelynn Derise and Meredith Derise. Alter server will be her great-great nephew, Layne Autin. On May 28, 1945, Mary Guidry was welcomed into the world as the tenth of eleven children to Bertrand and Elita Guidry in Rayne, Louisiana. She flourished and grew, later graduating from Rayne High School in 1963. With determination and hard work, Mary excelled in her career as the Human Resources Director at Datacomm in Lafayette, where she spent many years before retiring. However, retirement wasn't the end of her journey, as she returned to work as the Office Manager at Marvin's Engine Service in Rayne for the last twenty-five years, where she continued to thrive and make a difference. With an open heart and infectious smile, Mary lived each day to its fullest. Whether surrounded by the laughter of her nieces and nephews, the excitement of the casino, or traveling the world, she found bliss in every moment. She was an inspiration to many, actively involved in the Catholic Daughters of America and American Businesswoman's Association, spreading positivity and empowering everyone who knew her to reach their full potential. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, survived by her goddaughter, Ashley Cummings Derise, and her spouse, Dwayne, of Rayne, her godson, Bryan Brice, and his spouse, Annette, of Duson, and her siblings, Joyce Spell of Rayne and Patsy Brice and her husband, John, of Duson. She is also survived by her brother, Merlin 'Jack' Guidry, and his wife, Grace, of Rayne, and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nephews, and great-great nieces, including Madelynn and Meredith Derise of Rayne, who were especially dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertrand and Elite Guidry, her first husband, John E. Hanks, her brothers, JV Guidry, MB Guidry, Bertrand Guidry, Nelson Guidry, and Rufus Guidry, and sisters, Mable Simon and Theresa Simon, and her second husband, Uda Roy Leger. Pallbearers will be her nephews to represent each of her brothers and sisters, Joshua Doucet, Bryan Brice, Clyde Guidry, Jeremy Lavergne, Kenneth Autin, and Dwayne Derise. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Spell and Kirt Guidry. A rosary will be recited Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. Visitation will be at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday, July 12, 2024 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
