Larry Paul Mire Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne, LA for Larry Paul Mire, 67, who died Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Calcutta House at Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Deacon Denis LaCroix with St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Larry was born the youngest of four children and grew up in Rayne. He attended Rayne High School, graduating in 1974. He married the love of his life, Karie, in 1979. They stayed true to their hometown, where they raised three children. Larry was a devoted husband, brother, and father. His greatest joy in life was earning the title "Papa" when his eight grandchildren were born. Larry loved God, his family, and his LSU Tigers. He will be remembered as a man who loved fiercely, laughed loudly and battled courageously. The last 10 months proved what his loved ones already knew; he was a man full of immeasurable strength and resilience. Larry will be missed beyond measure by those blessed enough to know and love him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Karie Garrett Mire, along with his three children, Heather Mire Lee and spouse Jeremy Lee, Brad Mire and spouse Amanda Mire, Jennifer Mire Lavigne and spouse Ryan Lavigne. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Laura Lee, Audrey Lee, Jack Lee, Evelyn Mire, Henry Mire, Violet Mire, Lillian Lavigne, Mark Lavigne. Additionally, his three siblings, Virlee Mire Mouton, Ray Mire and spouse Priscilla Mire, Mildred Mire Hernandez. Also, his mother-in-law, Heather Garrett, four sisters-in-law, Lorie G. Judice and spouse Mike Judice, Bonnie G. Boullion and spouse David Boullion, Sherie G. Sommer and spouse Eric Sommer, Vickie G. Valencik and spouse Dwayne Valencik, and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his grandson, Edward Mire, parents, Freddie Mire and Edwill Cormier Mire, father-in-law, Larry D. Garrett, brother-in-law, John Mouton. Pallbearers include Brad Mire, Henry Mire, Ryan Lavigne, Mark Lavigne, Jeremy Lee, Jack Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Sommer, Dwayne Valencik, Mike Judice, David Boullion A Rosary will be prayed Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Mire family extends their deepest gratitude for the love, prayers and support extended to them over the last 10 months.
