Gladys Bourque Stutes Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Gladys Bourque Stutes, 98, who passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at her daughter's residence in Baton Rouge, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne, LA. Very Rev. Brent Smith VF, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Gladys was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lay Minister, and St. Joseph Society. Gladys carried with her the strength, faith and compassion that would define her nearly century-long life. She devoted herself to caring for others as a nurse, embracing her profession not simply as a career, but as a calling. Her steady hands and gentle spirit brought comfort and reassurance to many throughout the years. Gladys was married to her beloved husband, the late Joseph W. Stutes. Together they built a life rooted on love, dedication, and family. Gladys lived a life marked by service, resilience, and quiet grace. Her love for her family was steadfast, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Stutes Cook and spouse Dave Cook, son, Charles Stutes and spouse Elizabeth Stutes, daughter in law, Nancy Bush Stutes, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one, great grandchildren, one great great grandchildren, each of whom carrier forward a part of her enduring legacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Stutes, two daughters, Ellen Marie Stutes, Annette Stutes Bruner, two sons, Darrell Stutes, Richard “Rickey” Stutes, Sr., three grandchildren, Mary "Christine" Stutes, Benjamin "Ben" Stutes, Richard "Rick" Stutes, Jr., parents, Alcide and Philomine Pellessier Bourque, six siblings, Marion B. Lavergne, Mayo Bourque, Sidney Bourque, Justin Bourque, Alice B. Fruge, Agnes B. Gary, Agles B. Credeur. Pallbearers will be Jacob Stutes, Brad Cook, Joseph Bruner, Steven Bruner, Jack Matthew, Jacques Clement. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 11:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
