Estey J. "Tony" Leger Baton Rouge/Rayne, LA - Estey J. “Tony” Leger passed away on November 20, 2025. Tony left the world of the dying and entered the kingdom of the living, seeing Jesus face-to-face. Tony abideth in the Lord Jesus Christ and loved his family and others loudly. He was born in Branch, Louisiana, on June 1, 1943. Tony later moved to Rayne, Louisiana, where he was a lifelong resident and small business owner. Tony was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Rayne, where he taught the Bible for 45 years. Over the same time period, Tony operated a successful petroleum sales and delivery business in Rayne, he was the voice of the Rayne High School Wolves football team, and an active member of the LSU Track & Field Officials Association and inducted into the Hall of Fame. Tony later moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to be closer to family and attended Istrouma Baptist Church. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Estey J. Leger Sr. and Mary Richard Leger, and his brother, Willard Gene Leger. Tony is survived by his wife, Patricia Pruett Leger. He is survived by his children, Wendy, Lonnie (Janice) Leger, and Jason (Susan) Leger. He is survived by his grandchildren: Logan (Melissa) Leger, Shea (Sara) Leger, Ethan (Shannon) Leger, Madeline (Cameron) Bucy, and Jake Leger. He is survived by his great- grandchildren: Luke Leger, Lucy Leger, Estey Leger, Beau Leger, and Sylvie Leger. He is also survived by his sister- in-law, Sharon Faye Leger, and their descendants: Jody (Shawn) Ritchie, Jennifer Gaines, Jill (Cliff) Mitchell, Rhonda (Scott) Foster, Braden (Olivia) Foster, and Alexis Foster. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent and heart-driven care provided to Tony by the staff at St. Joseph Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to the IMB (International Mission Board), NAMB (North American Mission Board), or the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. An interment service will be held at Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Cemetery in Branch, LA on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. We encourage attendees to wear their LSU attire to this event. Reverend Kevin Richard will officiate the service. Serving as pallbearers are Logan Leger, Ethan Leger, Jake Leger, Cameron Bucy, Paul Guidry, James Alford, Jack Sanders, and Scott Young. The honorary pallbearers are the men of Austin Kendrick’s Bible class at Istrouma Baptist Church. A memorial/celebration service will be held at Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service following at 2:00 p.m. We encourage attendees to wear their LSU attire to this event.
