Elaine Lorraine Leonards Gossen Roberts Cove, LA - Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove, LA, for Elaine Lorraine Leonards Gossen, 84, who died Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Sage Specialty & Rehabilitation Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in Roberts Cove, LA. Father Chester Arceneaux, Pastor of Cathedral of St. John Evangelist in Lafayette, LA, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Elaine was born June 10, 1938 in Rayne. She will be remembered for her sweet and gentle nature. She loved her large family dearly and she loved the many family gatherings throughout the year. Elaine raised a family of 11 children lovingly and with the utmost patience. Family gatherings were the highlight of her life, especially holding her grandchildren and great grandchildren on her lap. Her kind and generous heart was felt by all who knew her. Elaine's source of faith was demonstrated on a daily basis. Her deep love for God and her devotion to the Blessed Mother was an inspiration to everyone. She was a member of St. Leo IV Catholic Church all of her life and was a member of St. Leo IV Choir, St. Leo IV Ladies Altar Society and was a charter member of Court St. Leo IV Catholic Daughters of America. She also was a volunteer for Roberts Cove Germanfest and a member of the Germanfest Singers and Dancers. Elaine leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Herbert Gossen, Sr. She is also survived by six daughters, Diane Comeaux and spouse Clyde, Cyndy Gibson and spouse Paul, Saundra Cook and spouse Tony, Darlene Smith and spouse Kent, Bonnie Foreman and spouse Johnny, Charlene Boone and spouse Lynn, five sons, Philip Gossen and spouse Jennifer, Dwayne Gossen and spouse Carla, Keith Gossen and spouse Julie, Paul Gossen and spouse Danielle, Herb Gossen, Jr. and spouse Nanette, 20 grandchildren whom she cherished and who lovingly called her "Oma", Kyle Comeaux, Kade Comeaux, Kara Comeaux Fontenot, Kane Hubbard, Damian Hubbard, Andrew Gossen, Julia Gossen Landry, Jacob Smith, Katelyn Smith Autrey, Bryant Gossen, Jeanne Claire Gossen, Blake Foreman, John Paul Foreman, Jordan Gossen, Mollie Gossen, Ellyn Boone Lalande, Madelyn Boone Hulin, Jaclyn Boone, Nicholas Gossen, Allie Gossen, 24 great grandchildren with three on the way, two godchildren, Stephen Didier and Jerry Leonards. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews who loved their "Aunt Elaine" dearly. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Marie Frey Leonards, brother, Gerald Leonards and spouse Shirley Nickel Leonards, sisters-in-law, Marcella Habetz Gossen, Marjorie Devillier Gossen and Flavia Diane Gossen. Pallbearers will be Kyle Comeaux, Kane Hubbard, Andrew Gossen, Jacob Smith, Blake Foreman and Bryant Gossen. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 7:00 pm and on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 9:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am.
