Darrell Joseph "Ponce" Stutes Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Darrell Joseph "Ponce" Stutes, 59, who died Sunday December 28, 2025, at the Heart Hospital in Lafayette. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Rev. Edward Duhon of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Darrell, affectionately known by many as "Ponce," was the definition of a dedicated family man. His life was centered on the well-being of those he loved, and he took immense pride in his roles as a husband, stepfather, and grandfather. His direct and outspoken personality will be deeply missed by his family, and friends including his beloved "fur babies," Rocco and Skye. Professionally, Darrell was a pillar of the oil and gas industry. He dedicated 26 years of service to Offshore Energy Services, where he was regarded as a valued employee and a mentor to many. His work ethic and commitment to his trade were unmatched, earning him the respect of colleagues across the industry. He is survived by his loving wife, Johnna Arceneaux Stutes; his stepdaughter, Ashley and Ricky Gray; his grandson, Adrien Price; and his granddaughter, Saylor Daigle and her fiancé Charlie Owens. He also leaves behind three brothers: Jerry Stutes and wife Alice, Bryon Stutes Sr. and wife Rosalyn, and Harold Stutes Sr., his nieces Shea and Heather Arceneaux, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. Darrell was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Parker Daigle; his parents, Sweeny Stutes, Jr. and Judy Stutes; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Joanne Arceneaux; and brothers-in-law Scotty, Dwayne, and Joseph Arceneaux. Pallbearers will be David Cazes, Logan Pippen, Shannon Clavier, Troy Schexnyder, Eric Fontenot, and Kenneth Green. A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 6:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Tuesday December 30, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday December 31, 2025, from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
