Daniel N. Landry Jr.

Daniel N. “Dan” Landry, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Dan was raised in Rayne, where he lived for his entire life and was an active member of the community. His lifetime work was Landry’s Feed Store, a community fixture and independent Purina dealership for over 70 years started by his father and co-owned with his brother. Dan was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rayne, where he faithfully served first as an altar server, then usher and lector. He loved the Lord Jesus and his family with all his heart. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the College of Agriculture. He was an avid LSU sports enthusiast, enjoyed attending all LSU sports games, and supporting his university as an alumni. He was a KSIG radio guest for many years, and conversed with many types of people about farming, food, sports, and trivia. Dan never met a stranger through his many years of involvement with the Rayne Chamber of Commerce, leading the Agricultural Committee, and supporting the Acadia Parish 4-H program with their annual Livestock Show. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Landry Sr. and Cecile Dischler Landry, and his brother-in-law John Ledlow. He is survived by his wife Alice Ziegler Landry, his two daughters Sarah Landry Daniels (husband Christopher) and Emily Landry, his sister Mary Claire Landry Ledlow, his brother Ken Landry, his uncle Father Oneil Landry, plus numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27 from 4-8pm at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, with a rosary at 6pm. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, January 28 from 8-10:30am prior to an 11am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rayne. The mass will be celebrated by Father Brent Smith and Deacon Tim Ledet. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery II Mausoleum in Rayne. Pallbearers will be Ken Landry, Christopher Daniels, Mark Walker, Butch Ousse, Seth Mooney, and Boyd Gray. Flowers can be sent to Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, or donations made to Louisiana State University Alumni Association in memory of Dan.
