Daniel "Dan" E. Privat, Sr. RAYNE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, for Daniel “Dan” E. Privat, Sr., 77, who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, November 3, 2025, at The Ellington Nursing Home in Rayne, LA. Dan was born on April 13, 1948, in Rayne, the son of Roland and Marie Heinen Privat, and shared his birthday with his twin sister, Anna Marie. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Very Rev. Brent Smith, VF, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Dan attended St. Joseph High School and later pursued studies at the Rhet School of Electronics in New Orleans. After completing his education, he married the love of his life, Charlotte S. Privat, and together they built a family rooted in faith, love, and service. He began his electrical wiring career working on Naval submarines with Avondale Shipyard before founding Privat’s Electrical Service in 1980. Dan later joined the family construction business in Rayne, where his skilled hands and work ethic helped wire countless homes and businesses throughout South Louisiana. Known for his humility, generosity, and steadfast spirit, Dan proudly celebrated 47 years of sobriety. He served as treasurer for Alcoholics Anonymous and devoted much of his life supporting others in the Lafayette and Rayne communities on their own recovery journeys. A devout Catholic, Dan was an active member of both St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lafayette and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. He found great peace in his annual retreats at Our Lady of the Oaks in Grand Coteau. Beyond his work and service, Dan loved fishing, cooking, and traveling to visit his children and grandchildren across the country. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dan and Charlotte raised four children together in Rayne. In his later years, he devoted himself to caring for his beloved wife, Charlotte, and his sister, Ann. As the last surviving member of his immediate family, Dan leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that will endure through all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte S. Privat, three children, Paul Privat and spouse G Fetzer, Chip Privat and spouse Tammy Miller Privat, Angelle Privat Benoit; seven grandchildren, Drake Benoit, Taylor Benoit, Shane Privat, Harley P. Davidson, Caitlyn Privat, Erring P. Meaux, Karter Privat; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Privat; parents, Roland Privat and Anna Marie Heinen Privat; his twin sister, Anna Marie Privat Burch; and four brothers, Louis Joseph Privat, Roland “Bobby” Privat, Edward Privat and Thomas “Tommy” Privat. Pallbearers will be Shane Privat, Drake Benoit, Karter Privat, Colton Benoit, Tom Privat, Zach Zaunbrecher and Trent Meaux. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 6:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm.
