Betty Jean Simon Gautreaux Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA, for Betty Jean Simon Gautreaux who passed away on June 27, 2026, at the age of 66, leaving behind a family and community who will forever miss her kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. Betty was the devoted wife of Carroll Gautreaux with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered around family and always showing up for the people who mattered most. Her family was the center of her world, and there was nothing she would not do for the people she loved. Taking care of people wasn't just something Betty did. It was simply who she was. She spent countless hours visiting nursing homes, not only to see loved ones but also to spend time with the friends she made there. She would bring little gifts to brighten someone's day, sit and visit with anyone who needed company, and never passed up the chance to gather everyone for a game of bingo. If someone was hurting or needed help, Betty was there. She had a way of making people feel important. Betty was strong-willed and determined. She worked hard her entire life, putting everything she had into every job she took on. She was never afraid of hard work, especially if it meant providing for or helping someone she loved. She was outgoing and quick with a witty remark and carried just enough sass to keep everyone on their toes. It was part of what made her so unforgettable. Betty never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone. A quick trip to the grocery store often turned into an hour of talking with friends, neighbors, or someone she had just met. She had a gift for making people feel seen, understood, and genuinely cared for. She never missed the chance to call someone just to check in and let them know they were on her mind. She loved to sing, dance, and turn everyday moments into a celebration. French music was her favorite; if there was music playing, chances are Betty was singing along or trying to get someone else to dance with her. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 52 years, Carroll Gautreaux; her daughter, Crystal Deville and husband, Kenney Deville; her son, Carl Gautreaux and wife, Stacey Gautreaux; her sister, Masel Miller and husband, Bobby Brasseaux; and her grandchildren, Halle Deville, Traive Gautreaux, Camden Gautreaux, and Chloe Deville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcee Simon and Lula Mae Simon; her brother, Earlis Simon; her niece, Melissa Miller; her godchild, Kevin Labauve; and her aunt, Evelyn Sonnier. Pallbearers will be Traive Gautreaux, Lennis Miller, Dwayne Gautreaux, Corey Credeur, Chad Prejean, Cody Credeur, Ashton Miller, and Robert Brasseaux. Visitation will be observed in Gossen Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
