Myron Joseph Meche Alexandria, VA - Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA, for Myron Joseph Meche, 59, who died Thursday, May 26, 2022. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Deacon Denis LaCroix of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of funeral services. Myron Meche was born on February 25, 1963, in the town of Rayne, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully with his brother, Kevin, by his side on May 26, 2022 in Washington, D.C. Myron grew up in his hometown where he was raised by a close-knit family with a deep-rooted cultural heritage and where he formed friendships that he carried with him throughout his life. After earning his degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University, Myron moved to Washington, D.C. He began his career as a Senate aide in the office of Senator Bennett Johnston. His incredible career includes roles as the Sr. Vice President of State and Industry Relations for the National Retail Federation, Director of Grassroots and Constituent Relations for the National Mining Association, and Director of Congressional Relations and External Affairs within the Department of State. Myron then shifted his career to focus on humanitarian and relief efforts, and his work took him around the globe, often to communities most in need of help and resources. He served as a consultant for the U.S. Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, and ended his career as the Director of Government Relations for Catholic Relief Services. Myron was an avid golfer and was out on the course with friends every chance he had. He loved watching football and was an especially loyal fan of the Saints and LSU. He was happiest spending time surrounded by close friends, and his giving personality shone through in his relationships. He savored every opportunity to open his home and to share his Cajun cooking and culture with his loved ones in D.C., and friends always looked forward to his annual Thanksgiving celebrations. Almost every evening was spent on his front porch for ‘Happy Hour’ at the ‘Benni Bar,’ named after Myron’s catahoula, Beignet. Myron rescued ‘Benni’ in January 2021 - though he would tell you that they rescued each other. Myron’s love for his family was unparalleled. He would always look forward to his visits home and to the fresh batch of brownies his mother, Verline, would have waiting for him. He deeply valued his long phone conversations with his brothers, Kevin and Blaine, whose physical distance never took away from the closeness they shared. Myron, better known as ‘Parrain’ to his three godchildren, Amy, Adam, and Gracie, treated them like they were his own children. He formed and nurtured unique bonds with all of them, and offered guidance, support, and love when it was most needed - and always. Myron is survived by a loving family: his mother Verline and father Hilman, his brother Blaine, his brother Kevin and wife Lorraine, his niece and goddaughter Amy, his nephew and godson Adam and wife Sara, his goddaughter Gracie and her sisters Amelia and Eloise, and his dog Beignet. He is also survived by his closest friends, who are truly his extended family: Christi, Dana and Leslie, Mark and Rita, Michael, Jody, and Raymond, as well as many others. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 6:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
