Daniel James Braus Rayne, LA - Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Daniel James Braus, 68, passed on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, who was a loving husband and father of one child. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne, LA. Deacon Denis LaCroix with St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the memorial services. Daniel was born on December 1, 1953 in Kaplan, LA to Elus and Elite (Boudreaux) Braus. He received his high school diploma from Gueydan High in 1971. After high school, he worked in the oil & gas industry, learning and specializing in hydraulic mechanics. On May 5, 1973, he married Linda Ann Boudreaux. Together, they raised one daughter, Winona. For 10 years, he owned and operated Rayne Small Engine Company, where he made countless friends in the community. Years later, his special friends at Honda of Lafayette became his second family, supporting him through his fight. He was an avid bird hunter and occasional fisherman, but his greatest joy in life was camping with Linda, along with his brother/best friend, Wayne, and his wife, Doris. He loved fast cars, vintage TV westerns, and Mafia movies. He was known for his quick wit and true grit. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Elus, and his mother, Elite. He is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Winona and spouse Cody, his brothers (Wayne, Karl, and Edward), his sisters (Millie, Milissa, and Linda), five grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. Daniel’s family would like to thank Lamm Home Health, Hope Hospice, and Dr. Thomas Curtis. Also, Dr. Ted Gillespie deserves special recognition for showing Daniel great compassion as a physician for many years, but more importantly, for blessing Daniel with the enduring care of a close friend. Additionally, the family would like to acknowledge Daniel’s profound love for his late Shih Tzu and best girl, Roxie, who undoubtedly will be waiting. And, most of all, they would like to celebrate the unyielding loyalty and boundless love that Linda never hesitated to show Daniel in their 49 years of marriage. With gentle grace, she kept his boat afloat through it all, just as she will carry his memory forward-till they reunite, two halves of a whole. A Rosary will be prayed Monday, June 20, 2022 at 12:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA.
