Willie Mae Mire Venable Mire, LA - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Mire, LA for Willie Mae Mire Venable, 87, who died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home in Lafayette La. Interment will be in the Assumption of the BVM Cemetery in Mire, LA. Rev. Michael Arnaud, Pastor of Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Mire will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Venable was born April 21, 1931 in the Mire Community of Acadia Parish, LA. She held the honor of being one of only two students to be the first graduates of a newly created twelfth grade class of Rayne High School. She was a lifetime native of the Mire/Bosco Community and was a retired secretary. Survivors include three sons, Gregory Venable of Lafayette, Allen Venable (Lisa) of Lafayette, Stewart Venable (Russell) of Baton Rouge, two daughters, Christine V. Savage of Bosco, Mona V. Leger of Lafayette, sister, Clarice Mire Royer of Chalmette, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by father, Elie Mire, mother, Thea Leger, daughter, Deborah Venable, son, Andy Venable, father of her children, Dewey Venable, brother, Abbie Mire, brother, Elton Mire, maternal grandparents, Anteol Leger and Melanie Mire, paternal grandparents, Emile Leger and Denisa Miller. Pallbearers will be Allen Venable, Stewart Venable, Jordan Venable, Carl Bell, Vic Terro, and Tim Trahan. A Rosary will be prayed Friday, November 23, 2018 at 6:30 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Friday November 23, 2018 from 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday November 24, 2018 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
