Wallace Fontenot, Jr. Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at a 1:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch for Wallace Fontenot, Jr., 75, who died Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point, LA. Interment will be in the St. Edmund Cemetery in Branch, LA. The Very Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Wallace was a rice and soybean farmer for 25 years, worked for the DOTD for 25 years, Police Jury/Drainage Board 6 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Rabbit Breeders Association for 30 years, Louisiana Cattleman's Association, Acadia Parish 4-H Livestock show commission, plus many other local Rabbit Clubs. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sonnier Fontenot, three daughters, Anne Fontenot, Josette Fontenot Richard and spouse Wayne Richard, Gayle Fontenot Zimmerman and spouse Jack Zimmerman, two sons, Fred Fontenot and spouse Trudy Fontenot, Jude Fontenot and spouse Kim Fontenot, nine grandchildren, Koby Fontenot, Phillip Richard, Billy Thibodeaux, Alaina Thibodeaux, Logan Richard, Caroline Zimmerman, Kayle Zimmerman, Jacob Fontenot, Kaleb Fontenot, five great grandchildren, Xander Richard, Karleigh Fontenot, Sadie Richard, Kinsley Fontenot, Lila Richard, sister, Jeanette Fontenot Cormier. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Caroline Fontenot, father, Wallace Fontenot, Sr., mother, Annie Leger Fontenot, three brothers, Cline Fontenot, Ferdie Fontenot, Winson Fontenot, two sisters, Lois Fontenot Petitjean, Joyce Fontenot Williams. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 6:30 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Sunday September 26, 2021 from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and on Monday September 27, 2021 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
