Saybel Gary Meche Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at a 2:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Saybel Gary Meche, 86, who died Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at her residence in Rayne, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Rev. Brent Smith, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. She was born in Duson and was a lifelong resident of Rayne. She was married to the love of her life, Lennes J. Meche for 52 years. She was an exceptional mother, her strength was admired by all who knew her. She loved and cared for her children with all her being. Although she suffered the loss of her husband, two children and a granddaughter, she continued the fight despite the heartache. She was a loving grandmother to all of her grandchildren, big and small. Her love was unconditional, and she went above and beyond by raising two of her grandchildren who needed her. Her heart was gentle, kind and giving. If you talked to anyone who knew her, they would say the same thing. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out! To know her was to love her, and she will be deeply missed. She persevered through the hard times and laughed her way through the good ones. We are thankful for the 86 years God gave her to us to love. We know she is now resting with the Lord, her work here is done. Survivors include her two children, Tessa Meche Price and spouse James Price, Brysen Meche and spouse Katie Meche, grandchildren, Amber Meche Leger and spouse Chad Leger, Stony Meche, Toye Meche Hightower, Justus Meche, Flint Meche and spouse Whitney Meche, Leif Meche and spouse Avin Meche, one step grandchild, Ashley Price and fiance Ricky Gray, one brother, Larice Gary and spouse Sally Gary, one sister, Bulsy Gary Mire and spouse Donald Mire, daughter in law, Sharon Bertrand, sister in law, Dolores Gary, brother in law, Hilman Meche and spouse Verline Meche, very special close friend, Drusella "Rose" Schexnider, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennes Meche, two sons, Mike Meche, Brady Meche, granddaughter, Taylor Brooke Price, father, Edias Gary, Sr., mother, Annie Leger Gary, two sisters, Loma Gary Meche and spouse John Meche and infant sister, Irene Gary, four brothers, Moise Gary and spouse Doris Gary, Gilbert Gary, Edias Gary, Jr. and spouse Gail Gary, Sidney Gary, brothers and sisters in law, C.J. and Mary Lee Melancon and George and Geraldine Dejean. Pallbearers will be Stony Meche, Justus Meche, Leif Meche, Flint Meche, James Price and Braxton Leger. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 6:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm and on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
