Robert Comeaux

Rayne - Surrounded by his family heaven welcomed Robert Comeaux of Rayne, La on February 28, 2021. Robert was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 2, 1950. A lifelong resident of Rayne, LA. Robert was loved by his community and all those he met. He was known for his kindness and compassion and to help those in his community. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and sports. On Sundays he can be found sitting in his favorite chair watching his favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers. After graduating high school Robert served his country by enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Robert was a faithful employee for 39 years with AT&T. Upon his retirement he was an active member in his community. He served as a chaplain with the American Legion post 77, President of Woodmen’s Life Chapter 31 and was instrumental in the development of the Veterans Park in Rayne, LA. Robert was honored to receive the 2018 Humanitarian of The Year awarded by Rayne Chamber of Commerce. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Patricia and Anthony Comeaux. Left to cherish the wonderful memories is his wife of 47 years Jackie Short Comeaux, his beloved children Wade Comeaux and husband Rustin Reidhead, Dawn Comeaux and wife Misty Comeaux. Two beautiful grandchildren Cora and Brooks Comeaux and Robert’s beloved Boston terrier, Apollo. The Comeaux Family request the wearing of masks and social distancing guidelines to be observed. Guest visitation will be Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 9:00 AM with a Rosary prayed at 1:00 PM at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, La. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, La. Gossen Funeral Home is in charge of all funeral arrangements. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne La. The Comeaux Family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana especially Nurse Jamie, all of the Lafayette general staff, Dr. P. Prouet, Dr. J. Herrington, Dr. J. Krawczyk of Oncologist, Dr. D. Curtis, Dr. H. Kaufman, and Elaine and Becky with Palliative Care. There kindness and compassion was treasured by the Comeaux family.
