Raymond "Ray/Pop" Domingue Rayne - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, for Raymond "Ray/Pop" Domingue, age 77, who died Sunday, June 25, 2023 at his residence in Rayne, LA. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. The Very Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Denis LaCroix will deliver the homily. Readers will be Brittany Domingue LaCombe and Rachel Girouard Nutt. Giftbearers will be Thea LaCombe, Christina, Natalie, Rozena, Karen and Lora Domingue. Eucharist ministers will be Randal and Verelda Girouard. Raymond was a native of Scott, LA and resided in Rayne, LA. He graduated from Scott High School in 1963 and went on to earn his B/S in Speech and French education as well as his Masters Degree and 40 plus hours from USL. He was an officer in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He distinguished himself by meritorious service as an instructor in the Department of Communication and Missile Training and received the distinguished Air Force Commendation medal for his outstanding teaching technique and devotion to duty in the Missile Launch Officer Course. He spent the next 8 years in Catholic School Education at Notre Dame High School as a teacher and Assistant Principle and St. Michael's schools in Crowley as Principal. He spent 27 years in Health Care at Rayne Branch Hospital as Administrator and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as Human Resource Director and Director of Lourdes Foundation. He spent 12 years with Lafayette Consolidated Government as Human Resource Manager. When he retired in 2017, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and volunteering at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital in Crowley. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Genita Domingue; three sons, Shane (Rozena) Domingue, Kevin (Karen) Domingue, David (Lora) Domingue; eight grandchildren, Brittany (Chris) LaCombe, Tyler, Alex, Kyle, Craig, Jacob, Christina and Natalie Domingue; three step grandchildren, Trish (Brandon) Walden, Britney (B.J.) Spinner, and Blake (Chelsey) Sherman; two great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Domingue; four brothers, Dennis, Oran, Wilson and J.C. Domingue; one sister, Mary Domingue Broussard. Pallbearers will be Tyler, Alex, Kyle, Craig, Jacob Domingue and Ryan Girouard. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Credeur, Gerald Broussard and Larry Darby. A rosary will be prayed on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 6:30 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne. The family request that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
