Phyllis Hoffpauir Besse Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne, LA for Phyllis Hoffpauir Besse, 86, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at The Ellington Nursing Home in Rayne. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne, LA. Deacon Denis LaCroix of St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Besse relished her moments with her children and was an adored Maw Maw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Phyllis' greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, usually serving wonderful meals while entertaining everyone with her jokes and keen wit. She loved spending time with her friends playing Bourree and Canasta. While managing a busy household she found time to work as a substitute teacher, serve as a volunteer for children with special needs, and later a volunteer at the Rayne Guest Home. Her passion for collecting chicken figurine collectibles produced a vast assortment of over 1000 figurines. Phyllis will be deeply missed by family and friends. Survivors include her son, Jody Besse and spouse Cori of Cincinnati, daughter, Yolande Besse and spouse Darren St Cyr of Denham Springs, nine grandchildren, Meghan Besse, Grant Besse and spouse Sarah, Keirston Besse and spouse Dexter Klees, Luke Besse, Payton (Taube) Lasseigne and spouse Joseph, John Michael Besse, Paige Besse, Jullien Winland, and Allison Besse, two sisters, Betty Hoffpauir Buquet, Marie Hoffpauir Richard and spouse Rodney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deynoodt "Dan" Joseph Besse, Sr., her son, Deynoodt "Dev" Joseph Besse, Jr., parents, Conrad Hoffpauir and Mable Caillouet Hoffpauir, siblings, Nettie Mae, Otis, Bert, Juanita, Sybil, Allen, Norbert, Conrad, Josie, Edward, and Gerald. Pallbearers will be Grant Besse, Luke Besse, Joseph Lasseigne, Dexter Klees, Darien St Cyr, and Jullien Winland. A Rosary will be prayed on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 12:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA.
