Patrick Bourque Mire, LA - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, LA for Patrick Bourque, 75, who died Thursday March 1, 2018 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA Entombment will be in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery Mausoleum in Mire, LA. Rev. Michael Arnaud, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, LA will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers are Maria Bourque, Sarah Bourque, Elizabeth Bourque, Evelyn Bourque, and Ella Huval. Readers are Riley Bourque and Joshua Bourque. A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish, Mr. Bourque was the original owner of Pat's Grocery on Moss Street in Lafayette. He also formerly worked for Cagle Supply and Frito Lay, and he retired from Lafayette Consolidated Government where he worked as an Environmental Inspector. Mr. Bourque enjoyed vegetable gardening, and he was known for growing beautiful roses. He enjoyed Cajun French music, and could be found at Saturday morning jam sessions singing, and playing guitar and harmonica. He also used his talents to entertain residents at area nursing homes. Mr. Bourque belonged to the French Table and Table of Knowledge coffee groups. He enjoyed antique car shows, cooking barbeque for his friends and family, and making other people laugh. His greatest joy was being with and caring for his family. Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Prejean Bourque of Mire; sons, Michael Bourque and wife, Emy of Lafayette, and Mitchell Bourque and wife, Janice of Lafayette; daughters, Susan Boudreaux and husband, Gregory of Broussard, and Christina Huval and husband, Kirk of Lafayette; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding Mr. Bourque in death were his parents, Joseph and Ida Boullion Bourque; brothers, Harold Bourque, Aby Bourque, and Harry Paul Bourque; and sisters, Eva Mae Bourque Prejean, Lauris Bourque Patin, and Irene Bourque Sonnier Marks. Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Bourque, Alex Bourque, Austin Bourque, Riley Bourque, Anthony Boudreaux, Quinton Boudreaux, and Jeremiah Huval. Named as honorary pallbearers are Michael Boudreaux and Wayne Bourque. A Rosary will be prayed Friday, March 2, 2018 at 6:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.
