Norma Ann Borne Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne for Norma Ann Borne, 84, who died Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Acadia St. Landry Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Nursing Home in Church Point, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Deacon Denis LaCroix with St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Norma Ann was born April 10,1941 the first child to Camille Robert Borne and Marie Myers Borne. A beautiful baby girl was born with brain damage and, sadly, doctors did not expect her to have a long life. She has proven them wrong and lived a full life until almost 85 years of age. No matter what time of the year it was, a reminder she always gave everyone was: “I’m going to have a birthday soon, April the 10 th ”. Providing care for a child with developmental disabilities can be very challenging, but her loving parents were determined to give her the best care possible themselves. She was provided with all of the educational and life skill training, medical, and social opportunities available. As a young child she attended specialized classes at Central Elementary to the extent that their limited training was available. After elementary schooling, educational, emotional and social skills were received from her family. Her home was with her parents until their passing. She then lived with sisters until she found a home at LARC. After a period of transition, she was happy to be with her special new friends. LARC became her home. She attended the day program where she learned many new skills while helping her to become as independent as possible. She enjoyed her jobs and did not want to ever miss “work”. She would say: “I’ve got to make that money, honey”. Ann never met a stranger, and if she did, that changed in a few minutes, then they became her friends for life. She always greeted everyone with an outreached hand and “Hey my friend!” Her idea of who her best friend was usually changed to the person closest to her. She leaves behind surviving sisters Rita Fay Broussard (Bob) and Donna Sue McCardell (Tom). Also, Nieces and Nephews: Chris Dodge, Tim Leger (Ashley), Bryan and Jan Leger, Sarah Leblanc (Scott), Bobbi Miller (Jason), Camille Pearson (Joe), several Great Nieces and Great Nephews, many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Camille and Marie Borne, a sister Camella Hebert, and a nephew Robby Dodge. She brightened lives and left love everywhere and for everyone. She will be greatly missed but we know we now have a very special angel. A Rosary will be prayed Monday, March 16, 2026 at 11:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The family would like to give special thanks to LARC and Acadia St. Landry Guest Home for the special care they have given her and to her special friend and caretaker Jennifer Lewis.
