Mary Ann Trahan Prejean Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne, LA for Mary Ann Trahan Prejean, 83, passed at residence in Rayne, LA. After the rainfall on the morning of March 15, 2021, the sunshine burst through the clouds as heaven welcomed home Mary Ann Trahan Prejean. Mary Ann, affectionately called "Mom Mary", was surrounded by her favorites in her cherished neighborhood home during her final moments of life. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne, LA. Deacon Denis LaCroix with St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA will conduct the funeral services. Mary Ann, a Rayne native, relished her family most, but always enjoyed reminiscing of her golden youth-swimming at the Rayne Pool, dancing the night away, and traveling to SLI (now the University at Louisiana at Lafayette) to study courses. She married her Air Force sweetheart, Robert Prejean of Bosco, then moved to Arlington, Virginia. The couple created lifelong cross-coastal friendships and started their family with a first daughter. The trio moved back to Rayne where Robert joined the team at Columbia Gulf. After having a second daughter, they relocated to Houma, Louisiana, where they added two sons to the family. The Prejeans finally trekked back to the Frog Capital to establish some robust roots and added their final daughter to complete the clan. Mary Ann was a dedicated mother to her children, as well as the multitude of neighborhood kids and friends who would drop in for chicken fricassee and conversation. As her children grew, she served as an educational paraprofessional for several schools throughout Acadia Parish and adored working with her special needs students. She filled her life with flowers, Elvis, treasured relationships, and rosary beads. She taught that life was meant to be danced through and shared with those you love-and ultimately that there is nothing that prayer can't get you through. She is survived by her devoted "Beb" of 63 years, Louis Robert Lee Prejean; five children: Sylvia Prejean Peltier and husband Chuck of Rayne; Cindy Prejean Boutin and husband Donnie of Lafayette; Robert Wayne Prejean and wife Lisa of Houston; Todd Prejean and wife Trina of Rayne; and Carla Prejean Fontenot and husband Donnie of Lafayette. Fifteen Grandchildren: Elise Peltier Boutin, Christy Broussard Didier, Meggan Peltier Marcotte (husband, Rory), Jordan Peltier Barousse (husband, Jordan), Scott Broussard (wife, Morgan), Robbie Prejean (wife Mallie), John Prejean (wife, Camryn), Dillon Boutin (wife, Brittany), Caitlyn Peltier, Eric Fontenot, Delaney Bruce (husband, Caleb), Derek Boutin, Devin Boutin, Malorie Fontenot, and Gunner Fontenot. Sixteen Great-Grandchildren: Ellah, Colin, Catherine, Sophie, Grant, Charles, Harper, Jase, Rhett, Macy, Dax, Evangeline, Amelie, Annie, Hazel Ann, Emile, and one more on the way, Hendrix. One grand-dog, Chico. Brother, Sherman Trahan; sisters-in law Jennie Lee Arceneaux and Vivian Prejean; brothers-in-law Elwood Broussard and Richard Melancon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Godchild, Sandra Vanicor. She was embraced in the after-life by her parents Clemence Trahan and Lena Boudreaux Trahan, both retired from Mervine Kahn's; infant sibling, Merlin; grand-daughter, Halle Kate Fontenot; in-laws George and Hazel Prejean; sisters-in-law Bonnie Melancon, Betty Bourque, Katherine Broussard, Geraldine Trahan; and brothers-in-law Calton Arceneaux, John Terry Prejean, and Patrick Bourque. A Rosary will be prayed Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 6:30 pm in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA. The family will celebrate her life with visitation at Gossen Funeral Home on Thursday, March 18, 2021, from 5:00 pm-8:00 p.m. and Friday, March 19, 2021, from 9:00 am-11:00 a.m. Friends may view the obituary and guestbook online at www.gossenfuneralhome.net.
