Mable Olive Bonin Rayne--Funeral services for Miss Mable Olive Bonin, 99, of Rayne will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne. Father Kendal Faulk will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2 Mausoleum, Rayne. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM in Gossen Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Miss Bonin passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:02 AM in her Rayne residence. A native and lifelong resident of Rayne, Miss Bonin was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She lived out her faith as a member of St. Joseph Ladies Altar Society. Miss Bonin was a graduate of Louisiana State University, and had worked as a substitute teacher and librarian in Acadia Parish Schools. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and was actively involved in the Rayne community, having served in Ladies Auxiliary of the Rayne Branch Hospital. Miss Bonin was also an animal lover, and she received great joy from her animal companions. Survivors include nephews, John Fleming and wife, Peggy of Metaire, Stephen Fleming and wife, Susan of Beacon, NY, Mark Link and wife, Claire of Branch, Jack Bonin and wife, Margie of Kenner, and Robert Bonin of Rayne; nieces, Cille Link Chocallo and husband, Bill of Sarasota, FL, Mayme Bonin Wynn and husband, Bill of Rayne, and Mary Bonin Carriere of Rayne; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding Miss Bonin in death were her parents, Octave Paul and Mayme Pucheu Bonin; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Jeanette Bonin; sister, Cecile Bonin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Estelle and Larry Fleming, and Delia and Grant Link; and nephew, Harold Bonin. Miss Bonin's family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Heart of Hospice, 201 West Vermilion Street, Lafayette, LA 70501; or to Acadia Parish Animal Shelter, 1530 West 2nd Street, Crowley, LA 70526. They also wish to extend their thanks to Miss Bonin's caregivers, Vicky Richard and Yolanda Gabriel; to her part-time caregivers; and to Heart of Hospice, including Heather Carrier and Freida for their wonderful and compassionate care.
