Lucille Handy Lawrence Rayne—A Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Handy Lawrence, 89, of Rayne will be celebrated on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. In Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Richard Wagner will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 8:00 A.M. Until 10:00 A.M. In Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 9:00 A.M. by members of Our Lady Queen of All Saints. Mrs. Lawrence was born on March 23, 1925 in Rayne, and passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 6:10 AM in her Rayne residence. A longtime resident of Rayne, Mrs. Lawrence was a faithful member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her daughters, Marie Lawrence Collins of Houston, TX, Sylvia Lawrence and companion, Calvin of Lafayette, Mary Ann James and husband, Hardy of Rayne, Elaine Lawrence of Rayne, and Earnestine Lawrence Yokum and companion, Jerald of Lake Charles; sons, Melvin Lawrence and companion, Flora of Rayne, Edmond Lawrence, Sr. of Lake Charles, and David Lawrence and wife, Daniela of Cremona, Italy; Goddaughter, Yolanda Monroe and husband, Freddy, Sr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding Mrs. Lawrence in death were her husband, Harry Lawrence; parents, Jules and Mary Chantlin Handy; children, Gilbert Lawrence, Anthony Lawrence, Annie Jane Wilkins, Constance Evans, Joseph Julian Lawrence, and Brenda Marie Lawrence; sisters, Lillian Cook and Mary Cook; and brothers, Julian Handy, Levi Handy, Arthur Lee Handy, and Wilson Handy. Serving as pallbearers are Paul Lawrence, Peter Lawrence, Martin Yokum, Byron Yokum, Christopher Yokum, and Edmond Lawrence, Jr. Named as honorary pallbearers are Melvin Lawrence, Edmond Lawrence, Sr., David Lawrence, Marcus Tutzon Belizare, Thedrick Mouton, Gilbert James, Anthony Allen, Gastone Lawrence, Harold Wilkins, Jr., Cardell Edmond, Al Francis, Larry Handy, and Hardy James.
