Kenneth James Guidry

Kenneth James Guidry, affectionately known as Kenny or Pop as his grandchildren called him, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 6, 1949, Kenny lived a full and meaningful life, one marked by love, generosity, and a deep devotion to his family, faith, and friends. Kenny was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family. He leaves behind his son, Doug Guidry of Rayne, his daughter Rachel Istre and husband John of Rayne, his granddaughters Brittany Gulzar and husband Shayan of Houston, and Ashley Broussard and husband Grant of Baton Rouge, along with his great-granddaughters Rosie and Annie Gulzar. He is also survived by his brother Bill Guidry and wife Cheryl of Rayne, his brother Carl Guidry of Rayne, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold him close in their hearts. A proud member of the Louisiana Oil Marketers Association, Kenny enjoyed a distinguished career with Chevron and was widely respected in his field. Outside of his professional success, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for raising a variety of birds, hunting with his loyal Labrador retrievers, and taking his family on memorable vacations. One of his greatest joys was attending the sporting events of his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, where his enthusiastic support never wavered. Kenny's life was also deeply rooted in his faith. The Catholic faith and education were of great importance to him, and he carried those values with him throughout his life. He was a generous man, always ready to lend a hand to those in need, and he will be deeply missed by his wonderful group of lifelong friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Sis Guidry, his sister Debbie Girouard, his nephew Phil Guidry, and his niece Cate Cantrell. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of love and generosity will endure. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at Southwind, The Ellington, and Hospice of Acadiana for their unwavering devotion and compassionate care during Kenny's final days. In honor of Kenny’s deep commitment to his faith, the family requests that, if you feel so inclined, donations be made to the Rayne Catholic Memorial Fund in his memory. A memorial service celebrating Kenny’s life will be held at Gossen Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the chapel, with a Rosary at 11:00 AM. Kenny’s family takes comfort in knowing that his memory will live on through the many lives he touched, and that his love for them will never fade.
