Josette Hoffpauir Baker

Rayne, LA - Josette Marie Hoffpauir Baker was born in Lafayette, Louisiana to Harold and Pat Hoffpauir of Rayne on January 27, 1955. Josette passed away on Sunday September 29, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones and precious dogs, after a myriad of illnesses For 42 years, Josette was the loving wife of Jerry W. Baker, her true love and soul mate. Throughout her illnesses, Jerry held steadfastly by her side, and she never wanted for anything. Josette was preceded in death by her parents, one sibling Michael C. Hoffpauir, one Godson, Benjamin Todd Vienne, and one son and only child, Christopher Harold Baker. Josette received a Bachelor of Arts from (then USL, with a major in history, education and a double minor in political science and music. Her postgraduate degree was a Master of Science In Rehabilitation Counseling. Her career was spent working for the Office of Mental Health and Volunteers of America, Greater Baton Rouge as a Regional Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. Her time was spent between Lake Charles, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge Offices. She had a fervent passion that called for tolerance and compassion for those who were different because of disabilities, impairment, homelessness, or incommodity. She was an enthusiastic fancier of French Bulldogs at a time when they were not exactly high on the "favorite dog list". Like anything she did, she studied the breed, and her due diligence of what was considered proper genetic improvement of her beloved dogs. Many of her breeding resulted in champions. Honorary pallbearers will include Angela Monceaux Costilla, Andrea McCarty McFaul, Mona Breaux Vienne, Sara "Pug" Breaux Arceneaux, Rachelle Roy Arceneaux, Gwen Hasling, Lida McMillan, Bonnie Johnson, and Lee Ann Stagg. Visitation will be held Saturday October 12, 2024, at Gossen Funeral Home From 9:00 am until 12:30 pm with a Rosary recited at 11:00 am. Services will be held Saturday October 12, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.6080 Mire Hwy.
