Eddie Martin Hoffpauir Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Eddie Martin Hoffpauir, 80, who died Friday, December 30, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Mausoleum in Rayne, LA. The Very Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, Pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, LA, will conduct the funeral services. Eddie was in the military for 3 years in the United State Army as a helicopter mechanic. He served during the Vietnam war. After the military he began working for PHI as a mechanic. He then left and became an instructor of mechanics at the Crowley Trade school for 20 Years. He impacted the lives of many young men teaching them mechanical skills. He then opened up Hoffpauir’s Auto Repair in Mire for 30 years. He has always been considered the “Best Mechanic Ever”. He was always going out of his way to make sure everyone had what they needed. He had a heart of gold and in his own rights he was comedian. He and his brothers kept us laughing. He always told us to never give up. AMERICAN ends with I CAN and made sure we understood good work ethic. He will be missed dearly. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Martha Hoffpauir, three daughters, Diane Joyce Wild and spouse Richard Wild, Sarah Ann Hoffpauir, Jessica Lynne Granger and spouse Ryan Granger, son, Brian Joseph Hoffpauir and spouse Shannon Hoffpauir, grandchildren, Kelby Wild, Anna Marie Wild, Kylie Angers, Leah Hollier, Dillan Hollier, Cameron Miller, Dustin Miller, Conner Landry, great-grandchildren, Bronson Miller, Ensley Miller, Westin Varnado, and brother, Horace Hoffpauir and spouse Cathy Hoffpauir. He was preceded in death by his father, Rhuel Hoffpauir, mother, Alice Hoffpauir, three brothers, Rhuel Hoffpauir Jr., Roland Hoffpauir, Merlin John Hoffpauir, and sister, Diane Joyce Hoffpauir. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA, on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
