Donald "Don" Blaine McNabb Rayne, LA - Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA for Donald "Don" Blaine McNabb, 76, who died Friday, October 9, 2020 at Lafayette General Medical Center Hospital in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA. Brother Jack Harris with First Church of Christ, Jennings, LA will conduct the graveside services. A loving husband, father and grandfather. Donald was born on August 25, 1944 in Lake Charles. He worked as a welder in the oilfield industry traveling the globe before retiring in 1986 to spend more time with his family. On June 18, 1981 he married Joy McNabb. Together they spent most of their time helping to raise their grandchildren and later great grandchildren. Donald had a deep passion for agriculture, and he could often be found in the field he tended riding his old Kubota tractor. He also enjoyed spending his spare time working with local crawfish farmers, sometimes in exchange for a few sacks of crawfish that he prepared for his loved ones - despite not having a taste for crawfish himself. Donald was known for his generosity bringing his family to Disney World many times, and enthusiastically giving to others during a time of need. Anyone who visited his home inevitably left with bushels of vegetables from his garden, or bags of oranges from the many fruit trees growing in abundance throughout his yard. The smell of gumbo, red beans and rice, or roast permeated his home every Sunday, courtesy of himself and his wife. Donald was preceded in death by his stepfather, Gus, and his mother, Fay. He is survived by his wife Joy, his daughter, Fronda, his son-in-law, Jeff, and his siblings, Dennis, Chris, Ted, Eddie and Jean, his grandchildren, Ashley and Christopher, and his great-grandchildren, Marek, Gavin, Rhett and Fynn and many nieces and nephews. . The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Thursday October 15, 2020 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Donald "Don" Blaine McNabb.
