Craig Edward Prejean Mire, LA - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at a 2:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire for Craig Edward Prejean, 71, who died Saturday, January 17, 2026 at his residence in Mire, LA. Craig Prejean passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Interment will be in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery Mausoleum in Mire, LA. Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. readers for the Mass will be Tickie Faul and Rachael Sanders. Offertory gifts will be brought up by Celeste Prejean Touchet, Dexter Prejean, Aidan Prejean and Even Prejean. A Eulogy will be following the rosary by Even Prejean. Craig was a proud graduate of Rayne High School, Class of 1972. From an early age, he showed a passion for sports, with softball becoming his first true love. That love stayed with him throughout his life, and in September 2025, he was honored with induction into the Softball Hall of Fame recognition that meant the world to him and to those who shared the field and stands alongside him. For 38 years, Craig dedicated himself to serving others through his business, Craig's Bail Bonding. His work was more than a profession it was a reflection of his commitment to helping people, standing by them in difficult times, and offering guidance with compassion and integrity. Craig was also a proud member of the Mire Knights of Columbus, serving as a 4th Degree Knight. His faith, service, and brotherhood were important pillars in his life and guided the way he lived and gave to others. A man who never met a stranger, Craig never missed a gathering. If there was a driveway or yard to pull into, you could count on him to arrive horn blowing, smile ready, and stories already lined up. One of his greatest joys was cooking, and his beloved black pot traveled wherever he went, because good food and good company were meant to be shared. Craig had a gift for storytelling and laughter. He left everyone he met with memories, smiles, and stories that will be told for generations. His presence filled every space he entered, and his absence will be deeply felt. Though he may no longer be with us, Craig Prejean's legacy lives on through his family, friends, community, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sheila Bourque Prejean of Mire, son, Dexter J. Prejean of Mire, daughter, Celeste Prejean Touchet and spouse Chad Touchet of Scott, two grandsons, Aidan Prejean and fiancé Teryn LeBlanc, Even Prejean, two great grandchildren, Kyren Prejean, Kiyah LeBlanc, step granddaughter, Talia Touchet, two brothers, Kevin Prejean, Jackie Prejean and spouse Becky Prejean, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father, Leonard "Sonny" Prejean, Jr., mother, Vivian Marie Adams Prejean, niece, Emily Prejean Dupuis, paternal grandparents, Leonard "Black" Prejean, Jr. and Evvie Lyons Prejean, maternal grandparents, Edward Adams and Florida Danos Adams, in laws, Pearly Bourque and Nelrelie Savoy Bourque. Pallbearers will be Dexter Prejean, Aidan Prejean, Lyle Prejean, Jake Prejean, Richard Faul, Brandon Dupuis, Chad Credeur and Carter Hicks.
