Cathleen Mary Caillier Bedel Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove, LA, for Cathleen Mary Caillier Bedel, 53, who died Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in Roberts Cove, LA. Rev. Nicholas Ware, Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Church in Lafayette, LA, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Cathleen was a dedicated educator for 29 years teaching kindergarten at Rayne Catholic Elementary, Martin Petitjean Elementary and Mire Elementary. Her love of children, soft manner and caring heart influenced the minds of hundreds of children through the years in Acadia Parish. “Miss Bedel” as she was sweetly called by her students laid in them a foundation for learning, a development of independence and a joy of creative imagination all by using a strong rule yet a soft and loving heart. In addition to being a wonderful teacher in the classroom, Cathleen was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. The truest measure of Cathleen’s life, however, was found at home in the care and love of family. Her pride and joy were her two children, Eric and Kaylee, who she nurtured and encouraged in all their endeavors. The addition of her daughter-in-law, Erin, and soon to be son-in-law, Peyton, was welcomed with loving arms and quickly made the family whole. Cathleen’s loving husband of 31 years, Danny, was never far from her side and they were truly each other’s best friend. She was the best baby sister to her older sisters and adored by her nieces and nephews and all those who knew her as Aunt Cat. She was a true and loyal friend maintaining lasting relationships with classmates from her elementary, high school and college years. Cathleen’s strong faith and extreme inner resilience always displayed with a true grace will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Danny Bedel, son, Eric Bedel and spouse Erin Bedel, daughter, Kaylee Bedel and fiancé Peyton Prather, three sisters, Carolyn Dyer and spouse Larry Dyer, Arlene Chachere and spouse T.C. Chachere, Annette Corzine and spouse Bryan Corzine, in-laws, Andre & Josiane Bedel, brother-in-law, Jean Bedel and spouse Shaunda Bedel, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Caillier, mother, Allie Spaetgens Caillier, sister & brother-in-law, Cynthia Olivier and Chet Olivier. Pallbearers will be William Chachere, Tyler Chachere, Wesley Chachere, Mitchell Corzine, Paul Bedel, and Andre Bedel. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
