Andrus Joseph Fontenot Rayne, LA - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA for Andrus Joseph Fontenot, 93, who died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at The Ellington Nursing Home in Rayne, LA. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Rev. Brent Smith, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Denis LaCroix his nephew will be concelebrating. He worked at Mervine Kahn in the men's and grocery department. He and Rose then went on to purchase the Duclos Insurance Agency in 1973 after working there for 10 years. He continued to work there until 2016 with his son Jimmy and daughter Pat. Mr. Andrus was a proud member of the American Legion Post 77 of Rayne serving as commander and also maintained other officer positions. He was a member of the St. Joseph Society. He also served on the Credit Union board for over 40 years where he served as President for many of those years. He served on the Hospital Board holding the title of President for many of those years. He was awarded the Boy Scout Silver Beaver award after serving as assistant Scout Master. Mr. Andrus was a member of the Ricebird Semi Pro baseball team. He enjoyed attending sporting events especially football and baseball. He loved working at his camp and hosting family gatherings. He served as Grand Marshall for the Rayne Frog Festival. Mr. Andrus also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Survivors include three children, Bobby Fontenot and spouse Joy Lasseigne Fontenot, Pat Ann Fontenot, Jimmy Fontenot and spouse Norellie McFalls Fontenot, eight grandchildren, Robby Fontenot and spouse Mandi Fontenot, Renee Pisklak and spouse John Pisklak, Michael Fontenot and spouse Taylor Fontenot, Mark Fontenot and spouse Caroline Fontenot, Ryan Fontenot and spouse Ali Fontenot, Kyle Fontenot and spouse Lauren Fontenot, Tyler "T.J." Fontenot and spouse Laruren Fontenot, Kayla Deaville and spouse Travor Deaville, two step grandchildren, Erin Swin, Aisliam Swim Seal, twenty great grandchildren, two sisters, Lillie Mae Fontenot, Mary Fontenot Broussard and spouse Nick. He was preceded in death by wife, Rose LaCroix Fontenot, father, Lessin Fontenot, mother, Andrea Leger Fontenot, sister, Anna Belle Fonetnot Thibodeaux, sister, Hazel Fontenot Trahan, sister, Elia Fontenot Sonnier, sister, Lourette Fontenot Hanks. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Robby Fontenot, Michael Fontenot, Mark Fontenot, Ryan Fontenot, Kyle Fontenot and Tyler "T.J." Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers will be his two grand son in laws, John Pisklak and Trevor Deaville. A Rosary will be prayed Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA. The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne LA on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
